Packrafting is changing the way people are exploring the wilderness. Packrafts are lightweight packable boats (only 3kg) that can easily be carried deep into the back country. The rafts can then be inflated and the river becomes your path!
Just a stones throw from Glenorchy you can enjoy packrafting as a day trip, an overnight camping trip or as a three day hiking, biking and boating adventure in the Rees Valley. This is the most popular packrafting spot in the country and justifiably so. Suitable for absolutely anyone, breathtakingly beautiful, remote and best of all, peaceful. We seldom see more than one or two people in this stunning valley, the river is more mild than wild and the hike in is flat, easy and not too long. A real slice of heaven in a historic high country station. This is real New Zealand.

Rippled Earth Kayaking
Rippled Earth offers half day kayaking tours to Pigeon and Pig island. These trips leave from Glenorchy at 8:45am and 1:45pm or Queenstown at 8am and 1pm. We use double kayaks and the tour takes roughly 3hrs and we discuss the ecological and historical aspects of the area. The islands are a bird sanctuary and people will have a chance to see flightless weka, bell birds, tui, fantail and brown creeper during our stop on the island. Simply Breathtaking... Words escape me. Or, specifically, words alone can't quite capture the atmosphere, the feeling, and the overall sense of awe one experiences when visiting Camp Glenorchy. It's an Ecological Marvel on every conceivable level and metric. It's Beautifully...
