10 - 12 Apr 2020

Ever wondered what it would be like to live in a tiny home? We have partnered up with Living Big in a Tiny House and Tiny Healthy Homes to bring you a 3 day Tiny Homes design course at Camp Glenorchy.

Tiny Homes have become a new phenomenon in the housing industry especially in NZ with the cost of housing over the past few years. These homes are designed and built for purpose with a place for everything and everything in its place. We have partnered up with two of the biggest names in the industry to bring you this 3 day Tiny Homes Design course at Camp Glenorchy.

The tiny homes workshop

The tiny home design workshop offers you a great way to ramp up your tiny house journey by providing you with design inspiration and information you need to start designing your own tiny home. Ben Garratt has built over 30 Tiny houses for a variety of climate, sustainability, weight and health challenges. In our day two we will move through the phases of construction, as well as scheduling, budgeting and managing your project. These weekends also build community with like-minded people who are interested in lowering their global impact, living debt free and simplifying their lives.

The Scenic Location

Glenorchy is nestled between two stunning mountain ranges, a glacier-clad peak, and two rivers—the Dart and the Rees—which braid together to form the headwaters of Lake Wakatipu. The workshop will take place during Easter Weekend, starting on Good Friday and ending on Easter Sunday. This is a great chance to combine a holiday and extend your stay until Easter Monday to explore the area.

Glenorchy is only a 45-minute lakeshore drive from Queenstown, it is one of the most scenic drives in New Zealand. Make sure you take your time to enjoy the views and stop along the way to take in the majestic scenery.

Camp Glenorchy is located in the heart of the small village of Glenorchy. Surrounded by mountains and just a 10-minute walk from the lakefront, here you will find yourself letting go... decompressing from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Camp Glenorchy Facilities

Camp Glenorchy has been created from the ground up following the principles of the Living Building Challenge, one of the most rigorous standards of sustainability in the world. It is the first Net Positive Energy visitor accommodation in New Zealand.

Our conference facilities are ideal for this design workshop enabling you to listen in a large group and then breakout into smaller groups when required. Camp Glenorchy was designed to delight and inspire visitors to see and learn about what's possible with today’s technologies. Guests and visitors can review all aspects of the sustainability choices, or just enjoy the warm comfortable stay we provide.

Our Reviews

Best eco accommodation This place is awesome. I would give it 10 stars if I could. It is inspiring in terms of sustainability. My family (husband and two daughters - 12 and 16) are still complaining that we didn’t stay longer. Well done architects and designers. We will be back and will...
